Swings preview debut cassette with ‘Calling It’ track
D.C. outfit scatter into pretty pieces on the closing track from ‘Detergent Hymns’.
Washington, D.C. trio Swings possess characteristics of hundreds of bands preceding, but on ‘Calling It’ - the closing track from their debut cassette - they scatter influence in order to find their own path.
Bubbling up with guitar lines that scamper about the place, the group find peace in disjointed rhythms and strange structures. At some points, ‘Calling It’ even falls out of time, but given the who-gives-a-shit approach defining the rest of their rough-edged charm, it’s difficult to imagine them caring.
The track links up with ‘Heavy Manner’ and ‘Pale Trinity’ in previewing ‘Detergent Hymns’, a debut cassette out 17th January via Quiet Year Records and digitally on Bandcamp.

Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
