System Of A Down announce one-off Wembley Arena show

System Of A Down have announced a one-off UK show at Wembley’s SSE Arena, as part of a world tour to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

Kings of the festival circuit, the Californian troupe will take to a UK indoor stage for the first time in a decade on 10th April 2015. The date will mark the start of a world tour, culminating in the band’s first ever show in the members’ homeland of Armenia on 23rd April.

Entitled the ‘Wake Up The Souls Tour’, it is an event designed to honour the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, and draw attention to the atrocities committed as part of it.

In a press release, the band have stated: “As we mark this solemn centennial, please join us and the good people of conscience in Turkey to take a stand for truth and justice, and ask their President and Parliament to accept the Republic of Turkey’s moral and material responsibility for the Armenian Genocide.”

Away from their festival-filling, mosh-pit inciting exterior, System Of A Down’s music has always carried a deeper political intent. Stream ‘P.L.U.C.K.’ below from their 1998 self-titled album, a track dedicated to the memory of those lost in the Armenian genocide of 1915.
