They're back The 1975 return with massive new ‘Love Me’ single
Bold new track is the first to be taken from new album ‘I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’
After months of speculation and build-up, The 1975 have returned with a huge new single, ‘Love Me’, and the first details of their long-awaited second full-length.
‘Love Me’ gained its first play on Radio 1 earlier this evening (8th October) as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record - all spiky, Prince-aping guitar work and unabashed 80s love, it’s a huge statement from the band. “It’s about narcissism,” explained frontman Matt Healy succinctly before the track’s play.
He later revealed the first info on the band’s second album. Ludicrously titled ‘I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ (yep), the record is apparently 17 tracks long (yep) and due in February.
Stream ‘Love Me’ below via BBC iPlayer Radio at 3:37, and check out the lyrics underneath.
Earlier today the band shared a statement via their social media. “I would die for this,” it stated, “as pretentious or over-reaching as that may sound, I fucking would. This is for the fans.” Read it in full below.
