The 1975 score third number one album with ‘A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships’
It makes them the first British band since Arctic Monkeys to debut at Number 1 with their first three albums.
Good news for The 1975! Their third album ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ has gone straight to the top spot, scoring no.1 in the UK’s Official Albums Chart.
The band’s third album shifted 50,000 combined sales, including 8,286 on vinyl. It makes them the first British band since Arctic Monkeys to debut at Number 1 with their first three albums.
The band fought off The Greatest Showman soundtrack, Michael Buble’s ‘Love’, George Ezra’s ‘Staying At Tamara’s’ and Take That’s ‘Odyssey’ for the no.1 spot.
In our five star review of the band’s album, we called it “a bombastic, immaculately put together portrait of modern life”.
Speaking to DIY earlier this year about making the album, frontman Matty Healy said: ““I think we always put a bit of pressure on ourselves because we thrive off excitement. The indie mentality is that the more excited people get, the less they care. Fuck that! The more excited people get, the more we care. If you don’t care, why the fuck should [anyone else] care?!”
