The 1975 get scrutinised in ‘The Sound’ video
Matty and co. embrace their endless critics in the spiky disco number’s new video.

With their mammoth second LP out today, The 1975 are celebrating in typically glam fashion with a heavily stylised new video for latest single ‘The Sound’.The clip, set almost entirely within a glass box, sees the band perform in front of a pack of critics, all attempting to pick apart the band’s image and art throughout. “Is this a joke?” asks one, before they really lay in, declaring the band are “essentially making robotic Huey Lewis tunes” (ask yer dad) and “thinks it has a charismatic singer… they are mistaken.” It’s a typically self-aware nod from the group - watch it below.Album two, ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It’, is out today via Dirty Hit Records. Led by ‘Love Me’ (and its fruitcake video), ‘UGH!’ (and its turtleneck-packed video), ‘The Sound’, ‘Somebody Else’ and ‘A Change Of Heart’, it’s “a perfect mix of the spectacular and calamitous.” Read the DIY verdict here. The 1975’s bonkers touring schedule is below the player - The Japanese House supports, with Wolf Alice joining the U.S. leg from April 24th onwards.
