Neu Pick
The Castillians up the fuzzy fun-factor with ‘Piggy In The Middle’
The Birmingham mob’s new single is premiering on DIY as today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from The Castillians.
From Sabbath to The Streets, Birmingham’s long been a fertile ground for the scuzzier side of life and its musical reflections. The Castillians wear that proudly on their sleeves.
Dealing in the sort of throw-yourself-about-the-room garage rock that ignites house parties and festival tents in equal measure, there’s an endearing recklessness to their new single ‘Piggy In The Middle’, premiering below on DIY as today’s Neu Pick. Thrashing cymbals and buzzsaw guitars are laced with a piercing horn section that may or may not have come from Spring King’s famous saxophone dad himself. There’s a similar sense of heady, fuzz-fuelled abandon tying The Castillians to that lot, for sure.
It’s taken from a second full-length, ‘You & Me’, set for release on PNK SLM on February 12th. You can pre-order that here - get the first play of ‘Piggy In The Middle’ below.
Festival special! Featuring Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Lykke Li, Marmozets, Genesis Owusu and more.
