The Cribs post album update with Dave Grohl in the studio
Band are working on their follow-up to ‘In the Belly of the Brazen Bull’.
The Cribs have a posted a new photo showing themselves and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl in the studio together.
Tagged under the title “Day 1 in the studio!”, their Instagram post is the first news to emerge from sessions for the follow-up to ‘In the Belly of the Brazen Bull’. They subsequently tweeted to confirm that they weren’t collaborating with Dave, just that “he called into the studio to say hi… Just a hang with an awesome dude.”
Earlier this year, The Cribs parted ways with Wichita Recordings to sign a deal with Sony RED. Their sixth studio album has a provisional release date of Spring 2015.
The band are working with Weezer producer / The Cars member Ric Ocesek. Speaking to NME, Ryan Jarman explained: “He doesn’t do records like a gun for hire; he chooses a band. We’ve been trying to get him since the third record, now he thinks we’re definitely good enough.”
Jarman went on to explain The Cribs have enough material for the record, taking influence from The Replacements and 80s pop. The first single, a “big fuzzy pop song” is being referred to by the band as ‘the geek rock one’.
