The Cribs, Laura Marling and Courtney Barnett score big in the charts

The Wakefield trio make it their third Top 10 album.

The Cribs, Laura Marling and Courtney Barnett are among the big winners in this week’s UK album charts, with the Wakefield trio making ‘For All My Sisters’ their third Top 10 record.

The band enter at #9 with the record, their sixth, meaning this, posted during their takeover of our Instagram back on Monday, is to be a reality.

March cover star Laura Marling is in at #7 with ‘Short Movie’, and Courtney Barnett’s debut, ‘Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit’ entering at #16.

Elsewhere The Staves are in at #14 with ‘If I Was’, Action Bronson’s ‘Mr Wonderful’ is in at #35, and after Brandon Flowers returned with ‘Can’t Deny My Love’ earlier this week, The Killers’ ‘Direct Hits’ re-enters the Top 40 at #38.

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ falls to #5, with the remainder of the Top 5 filled by male soloists Seasick Steve, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and James Bay.

Over in the Singles chart, Jess Glynne scores a solo #1 with ‘Hold My Hand’, while Rihanna’s return, ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ is at #29 after just two days on sale.

New releases tomorrow include Death Cab For Cutie’s ‘Intsugi’, Circa Waves’ ‘Young Chasers’, The Prodigy’s ‘The Day Is My Enemy’, Lightning Bolt’s ‘Fantasy Empire’ and Sufjan Stevens’ ‘Carrie & Lowell’.
