The Cure release long-awaited new single ‘Alone’
The track is our introduction to ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ - the iconic band’s first album in 16 years.

After years of speculation, The Cure have finally released a new single, ‘Alone’ - our first taste of what to expect from their long-awaited, much-anticipated 14th album ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ (due out on 1st November).
The epic track stands at nearly seven minutes long, and is a haunting, expansive insight into the iconic band’s new LP - what will be their first studio album in 16 years, following 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’.
Robert Smith has described ‘Alone’ as “the track that unlocked the record”, sharing that “as soon as we had that piece of music recorded I knew it was the opening song, and I felt the whole album come into focus.”
Continuing, he has commented: “I had been struggling to find the right opening line for the right opening song for a while, working with the simple idea of ‘being alone’, always in the back of my mind this nagging feeling that I already knew what the opening line should be.”
The Cure have been teasing new music for the past few weeks via special postcards sent out to fans, as well as through the appearance of a poster outside the venue of their first ever gig in Crawley.
