The Flaming Lips cover John Lennon’s ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over) with Yoko Ono

The recording will feature on Amazon’s ‘All Is Bright’ compilation.

The Flaming Lips have teamed up once again with Yoko Ono to cover John Lennon’s classic festive hit ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’. The track has the Oklahoma band’s signature psychedelic stamp on it, whilst remaining true to the original.

The song is part of Amazon Prime’s forthcoming 43-track holiday compilation ‘All Is Bright’, which also includes contributions from Liz Phair, Beth Orton, Lucinda Williams and the Rosebuds. Amazon Prime users can listen to the full playlist here.

This is not the first time Wayne Coyne and co have worked with Ono to help spread Christmas cheer. In 2011, they joined Ono’s Plastic Ono Band for a new version of ‘Atlas Eets Christmas’, a song which originally appeared on Flaming Lips’ secret Christmas album from 2007.

Last month, the band released ‘With A Little Help From My Fwends’, a tribute to the Beatles’ 1967 album ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’. The record features guests on every track, including My Morning Jacket, Tegan and Sara, Moby and Miley Cyrus.
