The Flaming Lips’ Twitter Announces Split, Retracts Statement

Spare a thought for Flaming Lips fans who managed to spend 20 minutes hyperventilating the panicking about a potential band split. Their corner of Twitter went into a meltdown on 24th October by announcing on their Twitter: ‘We have sad news. We’ve broken up…’

It seemed like a pretty clear statement. But it was soon retracted - a second tweet, which has also been deleted, stated ‘lol just joking guys.’

The only remaining statement from the account states ‘That last announcement was a bit premature,’ with Wayne Coyne stating on his personal account: ‘The Flaming Lips twitter has been hijacked!!!!’

Chances are this issue isn’t going to be explained anytime soon, but fans can rest assured that the band aren’t splitting.
