The Maccabees play Radio 1 Maida Vale session

The band played a re-worked version of old favourite ‘Toothpaste Kisses,’ along with two cuts from new album ‘Marks To Prove It’.

The Maccabees swung by Radio 1 to play a Maida Vale session last night. The show was hosted by Huw Stephens, sitting in for Annie Mac.

The band - who released their fourth album ‘Marks To Prove It’ last week - played new album cuts ‘Something Like Happiness’ and ‘Spit It Out,’ as well as a re-worked version of debut album fan favourite ‘Toothpaste Kisses’. They also chatted to Huw about their new album’s connection to Elephant and Castle, and the frustrations of trying to tour their previous record ‘Given to the Wild’. In contrast, ‘Marks To Prove It’ is practically custom-made for the stage.

The Maccabees are on the cover of the new August issue of DIY, out on Friday. Head here for more details.
