The Mars Volta And Flea Form New Group Antemasque
Introducing Antemasque, a band formed of Flea, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Dave Elitch.

Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez from The Mars Volta have started a new project with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch.
This new project follows on from the breakup of the Mars Volta, with Rodriguez-Lopez moving onto Bosnian Rainbows, Bixler-Zavala to a new project Zavalaz.
With Antemasque, the band have yet to release any material. But a grayscale film of studio footage gives enough of an insight into the process. Mars Volta-stamped riffs definitely appear, and there’s a 1 minute section of the clip which simply consists of Flea recalling this one time artist Damien Hirst gave him a bass.

Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
