A new podcast on The National is launching next week
The first season of ‘Coffee & Flowers’ is set to take an in-depth, track-by-track look at 2008’s ‘Boxer’ LP.
A new podcast on The National is launching next week. Season one of ‘Coffee & Flowers’, launching on Monday (4th March), is set to center around the band’s 2008 LP ‘Boxer’, with each episode digging into a track from the record.
The podcast is the brainchild of music journalists and filmmakers Christopher Hooton and David Rapson. “We believe Matt’s lyrics amount to some of the finest poetry written this century,” the former said of the idea behind the new show. “With ‘Coffee & Flowers’, we hope to explain why this band means so much to so many people, and why it could to those who have yet to dive in.”
“How amazing would it have been to examine, in obsessive detail, a seminal album by The Beatles or The Doors, with input from everyone involved with the record? We hope Coffee & Flowers will be a major contribution to music journalism history.”
Listen to a teaser of season one of the show below.
Elsewhere in National land, the band today announced five special April shows, coming to intimate venues across Europe and the US to host ‘A Special Evening With The National’.
