Go slow-dancing in a gym in The National’s new video for ‘Dark Side Of The Gym’
Justin Peck from the New York City Ballet directs the new ‘Sleep Well Beast’ clip.
The National are mid-way through a US tour on the back of seventh album ‘Sleep Well Beast’, and have shared a new video for its single ‘Dark Side Of The Gym’.
Predictably, the new clip takes place in a gym, and is gorgeously directed and choreographed by Justin Peck, resident choreographer at the New York City Ballet. He’s joined on the dancefloor (gymfloor?) by Patricia Delgado.
The two dance amongst a host of balloons (bit of a safety hazard there, but they manage to get through it…) and perfectly recreate the sombre drama of one of the highlights from ‘Sleep Well Beast’.
The National have already announced a handful of live dates for next year, including a headline slot at new London event All Points East. They’ll play alongside The War On Drugs, Future Islands, Warpaint and more at the capital’s Victoria Park on 2nd June.
They were also the first act to be announced for next year’s NOS Alive in Portugal.
