The National & More To Record Grateful Dead Covers Album

Proceeds will be given to not-for-profit organisation, Red Hot.

Former DIY cover stars The National are planning to record a Grateful Dead covers album, with a number of notable guests.

“We’ve done a lot of work talking to various artists and laying the groundwork,” the band’s Aaron Dessner told Relix and Jambands.com.

“It is kind of an ambitious project both because of the legacy and the material. We are obsessed enough with the Grateful Dead that it is kind of a monumental idea.”

Also taking part are Vampire Weekend, Bon Iver, Kurt Vile, The War On Drugs and The Walkmen, with more still to be confirmed.

Other details - including a likely release date - are currently under-wraps, but proceeds will be given to not-for-profit organisation, Red Hot.

The National’s most recent album, ‘Trouble Will Find Me’, is out now. They’ve also a set of tour dates this November; catch them at:
