The National’s Bryce Dessner To Release ‘St. Carolyn by the Sea’
Bryce’s first orchestral release arrives alongside a suite from Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood.

guitarist Bryce Dessner has confirmed plans to release his first classical release, ‘St. Carolyn by the Sea’, on Deutsche Grammophon. It’s been written specifically for orchestra, with an accompanying suite coming in the form of Jonny Greenwood’s ‘There Will Be Blood’ soundtrack.
‘St. Carolyn by the Sea’ consists of three separate orchestral works, and it arrives after years of Bryce being involved in classical instrumentation. He’s previously collaborated with Philip Glass, more recently combining with Radiohead’s Greenwood at the 2012 Holland Festival.
In 2011, Holland’s Muziekcentrum Eindhoven hosted the first live performance of ‘St. Carolyn by the Sea’. The Copenhagen Phil perform the recorded version, released on 3rd March and available for pre-order here.
