The Orwells return to Letterman, finally agree to play a second song

Second appearance of 2014 sees them rinsing ‘The Righteous One’ on air.

Last time Chicago punks The Orwells played Letterman, the whole affair was part mind-blowing, part little-bit-embarrassing. It wasn’t obvious if the host, who at the time was freaking out following a performance of ‘Who Needs You’, was being sincere in his fandom. He asked the band to play a second song but - after tearing up the stage - they sort of went into their shell and all looked at each other in bewilderment and confusion.

Second time round, they’ve delivered the goods. It’s clear Letterman’s a huge Orwells fan, again insisting that they run through a second song. On this occasion, they oblige. Following ‘The Righteous One”s raucous display, they double-dare each other to go straight into a quick lap of honour by way of ‘Who Needs You’.

It’s not quite Future Islands-level of on air excitement, but it definitely bodes well for a bunch of newcomers who look in their element as soon as they’re anywhere near a camera.
