The Red Cords strengthen their grip with ‘Vile Guy’

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from The Red Cords.

Falmouth’s The Red Cords could have stepped out of a sticky floored, dingy bar from any of the last three decades. There’s a punk-embellished spirit linking up their every move, but on latest track ‘Vile Guy’, there’s a very present day concern.

“I need to fill my days sometimes,” the three-piece bark in a nonchalant but attention-grabbing fever. With a handful of chords and enough spirit, they speak about a boredom creeping into the life of every teen aimlessly staring at their phone, wondering what’s around the corner. The cure, it turns out, is a swift play of the group’s hellraising, latest cut. It’s premiering below on DIY.

The ‘Vile Guy’ 7” is out 28th November via Easy Action.
