Iver new album out
The Staves reveal details of second album ‘If I Was’
Produced by Bon Iver, The Staves’ second album, ‘If I Was’ is due out on 2nd Febuary 2015.
It seems only yesterday that it was Halloween, and already thoughts are turning to end of year round-ups and (gasp) 2015 album releases. One such album to look forward to will come from The Staves, who have announced that their second album ‘If I Was’ will be released on the 2nd of February next year.
Following quickly after the band’s October release ‘Blood I Bled’, The Staves’ second full-length picks up roughly where their last EP left off, and is in the same experimental frame of mind. Originally, say the trio, they had no intention of making an album. They were casually visiting Bon Iver’s April Base studio in Wisconsin after making friends with the beardy cabin-dwelling musician while supporting him on his 2013 tour.
“There was no plan to make a record there, or even demo anything,” explain the sisters in their press release. “It was initially just to hang out and play some music with Justin [Vernon]. There was no pressure at all, we didn’t even tell our label we were going.”
Still, a Bon Iver produced album was the result of the sessions. The track listing for ‘If I Was’, out on 2nd Febuary 2015 via Atlantic, is below, along with the spellbinding video the band’s most recent song ‘Blood I Bled’:
