Ooh-er
There’s a song narrated by Siri, and one explicitly about Matty Healy’s heroin addiction on The 1975’s new album
The singer’s spilled some more info about ‘A Brief Enquiry Into Online Relationships’.
Matty Healy has revealed more information about The 1975’s forthcoming third album ‘A Brief Enquiry Into Online Relationships’.
In a new cover feature with Billboard, the singer opened up about his former heroin use and how his experiences have seeped into the writing for the bands next record.
Discussing album track ‘It’s Not Living If It’s Not With You’, which he describes as “the big heroin one”, the singer also explained the impetus for its inclusion: “The problem I have now is that this is my truth, and I feel like I can’t negotiate properly with the world if I can’t tell the truth.”
Elsewhere in the interview, there are several more details revealed about the record - the first of two albums, which will soon be followed by ‘Notes on a Conditional Form’.
There’s a track narrated by iPhone voice commander Siri.
Another track is named after conceptual artist Joseph Beuys’ 1974 piece ‘I Like America and America Likes Me’.
‘Notes…’, meanwhile, is apparently slated for release next Spring, midway through the band’s world tour.
As we’ve come to expect with Matty and co, it’s a lot of information, all at once. And, also as we’ve come to expect, it’s really very intriguing indeed.
