There’s an Aphex Twin / Taylor Swift mash-up album, thanks to cartoonist David Rees
Insane meeting of minds emerges the day before Swift’s ‘1989’ release.
The hype around Taylor Swift’s ’1989’ LP has reached ridiculous, fever-pitched levels, but this is the strangest thing to manifest from all the excitement.
‘Get Your War On’ cartoonist David Rees has put together a new record called ‘AphexSwift’. True to the title, it brings together the work of two very different musicians: Taylor Swift and Aphex Twin.
Consisting of eight tracks, the whole thing is available to listen to below. Rees told Twitter followers he truly thinks Aphex Twin and Taylor Swift are “AMAZING songwriters.”
He also compared Richard J. James to Swift in the romance stakes, saying he’s “as big a romantic cornball as Taylor Swift. For instance, Taylor Swift made her name by writing big-hearted confessional songs for tween girls. But a lot of Aphex Twin’s music (especially on the Richard D. James Album, from which most of these tracks are culled) is also super romantic—saccharine, even.”
Listen to the mash-up album below.
