Thumpers go big on ‘Caramel’

The band have also shared the tracklisting and pretty amazing artwork for new LP ‘Whipped & Glazed’.

Thumpers are releasing their new album ‘Whipped & Glazed’ at the start of September, and we’ve got the first play of its latest single, ‘Caramel’.

Following the exceedingly promising ‘Gargantua’ (as predictably huge as its title suggests) and recent follow-up ‘Boundary Loves’, ‘Caramel’ is based around chunky basslines and fiddly, industrial percussion. It clashes with Marcus Pepperell’s smooth-as-silk vocals, but ends up being a harmonious meeting rather than a jarring one.

Talking about the new track, the band say: “’Caramel’ is a song about choosing to romanticise what you lose after a break up - basically a whole language that only one other person speaks,” explains singer-guitarist Marcus Pepperell.

“It’s about missing that level of intimacy and staying in touch to maintain it, against all your better judgements.”

The band have also shared the tracklisting and (pretty amazing) artwork for ‘Whipped & Glazed’. Frozen bangers, anyone? View both and listen to ‘Caramel’ below.
