Tobias Jesso Jr. reveals new track ‘How Could You Babe’

Whether he’s playing his piano in skate bowl, or singing melancholy ballads to the skyline, Tobias’ new song and video has it covered.

As weepy ballads go, Tobias Jesso Jr.’s brand new song ‘How Could You Babe’ hits the nail right on into the heartstrings. “So long my only friend,” he begins, with an intensity borrowed from ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’-era Elton at his finest. “I guess we gave it a try, and then we tried again, I don’t remember why.” If you’re not simultaneously reaching for a hairbrush microphone a la Bridget Jones, and clawing around for a pack of tissues to staunch your uncontrollable sobbing at this point, you’re doing something wrong.

‘How Could You Babe’ follows the recent announcement of Tobias Jesso Jr.’s debut album ‘Goon’, which is set to feature Girls’ Chet ‘JR’ White, Patrick Carney from the Black Keys and Ariel Rechshaid on production duties.

Out on 17th March via True Panther Sounds, the record contains ‘Just A Dream’, ‘Without You’ recently unveiled single ‘Hollywood’, and ‘How Could You Babe’, which is streaming below.

In a statement to fans, Tobias says of the record:

“I owe the sound of the record to the great effort of everyone involved, the producers and musicians doing and playing things I couldn’t and treating the production with the same reverence I treat my songwriting. The writing will always be the most important to me; the production, playing and singing I am still figuring out. I still play a bit of guitar, but I’m mostly sticking to the piano these days.”
