Tune-Yards airs new video for ‘Real Thing’

Watch Merrill Garbus wrestle with mannequins in her new clip.

It’s hard to imagine Merrill Garbus approaching any situation with an attitude short of total glee, but she really goes to town in the new Tune-Yards video for ‘Real Thing’.

Directed by Tom Jobbins, Garbus can be seen diving into boxes full of plastic bobble bits, and getting into fights with mannequins as she damns modern day’s obsession with dress sizes and “the search for the real thing.” “I come from the land of shame” she sings with her customary obsessive smile. The mannequins are a touch creepy, but they serve a purpose.

‘Real Thing’ is taken from the ‘Nikki Nack’ LP, out now on 4AD.
