Two Door Cinema Club say their new album “won’t be exclusive to any streaming service”
New LP ‘Gameshow’ is out this October.
Two Door Cinema Club’s new album ‘Gameshow’ is out 14th October, and the trio claim the record won’t be available exclusively on any streaming service.
Ruling themselves out of an Apple Music, TIDAL or Spotify link-up, the band tweeted: “Just FYI…Our new record won’t be exclusive on any streaming service. Exclusives hurt you in the short term and us in the long term.”
The group’s comments arrive after Frank Ocean released new album ‘Blonde’ via Apple Music, this past weekend. The exclusive has stirred controversy, largely because Frank also released “visual album” ‘Endless’ as an exclusive - by technicality, this was the last album on his contract with Def Jam / Universal. The following day, he self-released ‘Blonde’, and the label has reportedly reacted by banning all exclusives going forward.
