It’s no surprise to learn that Ty Segall’s mind is full of freaky shit.

The prolific songwriter - constantly tied to his guitar - has unleashed the almighty depths of his mind. These include curtains made out of meat, giant lettuce heads, glasses that spin in orbit, a rocking chair that’s come straight out of a Disney film outtake, brains, deserts, giant monsters, Victorian paintings - Ty isn’t the type to have a spare thought.

‘Manipulator’ is the title-track on Segall’s new album, out now on Drag City. DIY’s four star reviews says that “while ‘Manipulator’ lacks the lo-fi charm of his early solo material, Segall’s grown immensely as a songwriter since 2008, with a much wider range and skill while still being able to turn in a pure garage rock belter when he wants to.”
