Watch: Biffy Clyro Cover Vampire Weekend’s ‘Diane Young’

went into the Radio 1 studios to record a cover of Vampire Weekend’s ‘Diane Young’, ahead of their Reading & Leeds headline slot this bank holiday weekend.
What a pleasant prospect, you might be thinking. Two great bands combining. Biffy’s Simon Neil doing his best Elvis impression? What could go wrong?
Turns out, Ezra Koenig’s 50s croon is difficult to replicate. Neil and his bandmates end up sounding more like a trollied Mr. Toad drowning his soul in whiskey than New York’s finest. They know it, too. After an initial ‘Crazy Frog’-impersonating chorus, the band promptly follow it up with a jovial ‘woo!’ and a knock-your-socks-off acoustic guitar solo. Impossible to top.
This has to get an airing at Reading & Leeds.
