Watch: Editors Share Second Studio Update
The band are currently recording the follow-up to ‘In This Light And On This Evening’ in Nashville.

Editors are currently hard at work on (or at least ‘working on’) a new album. It’ll be the follow-up to 2009’s ‘In This Light And On This Evening’, and the first material since the departure of Chris Urbanowicz.
As revealed late last year, the Birmingham band are in Nashville, working alongside Kings of Leon producer Jacquire King on what will be their fourth studio album.
According to frontman Tom Smith, the new record might have a more American sound. ‘I’ve talked for a long time about my love of American bands like REM and Arcade Fire,’ he explained, ‘and that’s the type of sound our new songs are going towards. They’re more straightforward than our last album. That was more experimental, whereas the new songs could be played on an acoustic guitar. I don’t know what a hit is any more, but these songs feel very classic and immediate.’
Now, a second hint at what’s to come from the band has been shared via their YouTube page.
Along with a series of pretty Nashville scenes and bright blue skies, there are suggestions (we assume) of what they’ve been listening to on their travels, as well as what we’re led to believe is a snippet of brand new material.
