Watch: Jack White Talks ‘Blunderbuss’ To NPR

See his chat with radio host Bob Boilen take place.

As you undoubtedly know by now, Jack White releases his debut solo album, ‘Blunderbuss’ on Monday (23rd April).

He recently spoke to NPR’s Bob Boilen as part of the All Songs Considered show, about the making of the record, his experiences as a producer, working with a major label (in the US, anyway) and his fascination with playing with gender (er, not his, that of his musicians).

‘I learned with Alison Mosshart in The Dead Weather — it was hard to tell with The White Stripes — but with The Dead Weather all it takes is one girl. If you have twenty guys in the room and you just bring in one girl, you change the entire mood and everyone plays different. That’s what happened in The Dead Weather and that’s why I think we became such tight friends and we all wrote. The four of us wrote in that band, I think, because of her and her attitude.’

You can watch the full, twenty-three minute discussion below.

Jack White plays London’s Forum on Monday to coincide with the release of ‘Blunderbuss’ with support coming from Smoke Fairies. He also has dates at Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo this June - both also in London.
