Watch: Jon Hopkins Unveils ‘Collider’ Video

‘Collider’ is the terrifying centrepiece of Jon Hopkins’ Mercury Prize-nominated ‘Immunity’ LP. Tense to the point of collapse, it’s just as atmospheric and all-enveloping as the rest of the record, but it marks a moment when ‘Immunity”s momentum begins to sound sinister.

The video for ‘Collider’ is a perfect expression of just this. It shows a girl immersed in a club experience that turns out to be completely unreal. She starts fights, drinks, kisses and caresses in what she believes to be an enlivened, laser-filled environment. But it’s nothing; it’s all in her head. Deep. It’s a bit like the average person’s Friday night, only instead of two cans of lager and a heavy dose of shame, it’s… actually it’s nothing like anybody’s Friday night whatsoever, let’s hope.
