Anti-YOLO anthem & highlight from ‘Matangi’ gets its first televised airing.
M.I.A’s anti-YOLO anthem ‘Y.A.L.A’ gained its first televised performance last night on Conan.
Turns out ‘Y.A.L.A’ hasn’t taken on quite the following YOLO did just yet. M.I.A ‘underscore’ performs on her own, backed by a minimal light show and caped in a gigantic red sheet. It’s not a classic performance - it probably wouldn’t make the M.I.A documentary - but it’s enough to suggest she’s onto a winner with new full-length ‘Matangi’.
