Watch: Madonna, Minaj, M.I.A. Perform Super Bowl Halftime Show, Controversy Follows
The least offensive ‘offensive’ gesture ever? And no, we’re not talking about LMFAO.
Who’d have thought it - you put M.I.A. in front of a huge TV audience, one famed in recent times for ‘controversy’, and she does something controversial. Kind of.
Performing Madonna’s new single as part of the Super Bowl halftime show alongside Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. finished her verse with the line ‘I’mma say this once, yeah I don’t give a…’ and made what some would call an ‘obscene gesture’ to the camera. Both the NBC and NFL have issued statements about the incident, according to Entertainment Weekly. The broadcaster blamed a failure in it’s delay system, also noting ‘the NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show’.
