Watch MIA perform ‘Paper Planes’ at Glastonbury
Contrary to the artist’s tweets, the Beeb hadn’t refused to broadcast her set.
“BBC won’t broadcast my Glastonbury show,” tweeted MIA last night, “coz my t-shirt is too political”.
The star was wearing a shirt with the message “stop Tamil deportation”
Thing is, it wasn’t true. The live stream was on, the broadcast went out.
“Don’t know where M.I.A. gets her info from,” retorted BBC 6 Music presenter and writer Stuart Maconie, “but we fully intend to broadcast her set. And we’re streaming it.”
And it’s MIA at her most visceral (what else?!) that can be viewed below, it’s the Clash-sampling ‘Paper Planes’.
