Watch: Tune-Yards Airs ‘Water Fountain’ Video

Joel Kefali directs a crazed, science-friendly clip that could only come from the mind of Merrill Garbus.

If Merrill Garbus’ new Tune-Yards album ‘Nikki Nack’ is about hitting a creative wall and trying to fight through, Garbus has definitely reached the other side. A new video for ‘Water Fountain’ contains about a trillion millisecond shots, each one a visual opposite from the next. There’s a crazed, old scientist, a chest of drawers that talks, floating hands, a robot and a chef played by Merrill’s partner Nate Brenner.

Tune-Yards is at the peak of her creative powers, here. The only explanation for something this wacky and off-the-chain is a thousand consecutive cups of coffee. Joel Kefali directs the video.

‘Nikki Nack’ is out 5th May.
