Welcome to the weird world of Magic Potion and their ‘Deep Web’ video
Swedish slackers have been spending too much time online.
Magic Potion’s ‘Deep Web’ debut (praised to the heavens in a Neu Bulletin this week) comes straight out of Mac DeMarco’s ‘Chamber of Reflection’, a shameful, smoke-filled room in which slacker lo-fi gems are created on demand.
The Swedish group’s first work is filled top-to-bottom with character, but it’s not the most customary of introductions. The same goes for their new ‘Deep Web’ video, which flits between an intimate “bass tutorial” and a faintly disturbing glimpse into one twenty-something’s life. Tongue-in-cheek to an extreme, the video blends stock footage with old home videos and even the odd shower scene.
