And the nominees are...
Melin Melyn, Panic Shack, and Kelly Lee Owens among nominees for Welsh Music Prize 2025
They’re three of 15 artists in the running to win the prestigious award.
The Welsh Music Prize has unveiled its list of 2025 nominees, including idiosyncratic art-rockers Melin Melyn, punk upstarts Panic Shack, and electronic favourite Kelly Lee Owens.
Now in its 15th year, the Welsh Music Prize aims to spotlight the best Welsh artists and albums of the past twelve months, celebrating the richness and scope of Wales’ vibrant music scene. Last year, it was won by L E M F R E C K for his ambitious three-part 2023 album, ‘Blood, Sweat & Fears’.
15 artists from across a range of different genres have been honoured as nominees this time around; as well as the aforementioned names, the likes of Gwenno, Adwaith, and Don Leisure are also up to win the award (plus £10,000 prize money).
The winner of the 2025 Welsh Music Prize will be announced on Monday 6th October at a ceremony hosted by Radio 1’s Sian Eleri at the Wales Millennium Centre, while people at home can watch the night’s best bits on BBC One Wales and BBC iPlayer.
