Wez gets solitary with sharp ‘No Crew’ track
Austin resident’s second song is all about enjoying your own company.
“I have a voice / I have my own voice,” sings Wez, midway through a diary entry-like new single, ‘No Crew’. The Austin resident’s second song to date, it could be a spur-of-the-moment stream of consciousness. A list of bold statements (“I’m alright”, “I can go wherever I want”), it’s the sound of an individual getting used to their own company, realising their potential.
The song gets more confident as it progresses. That’s mirrored in sharp, jagged drum machine beats and vocals that start as a whisper before being bellowed out next to world-tripping synth notes. By the end, Wez is pretty much dancing to his own song, spinning around a room with his shadow. A solitary existence isn’t such a bad thing after all.
