What we learned from Mac DeMarco’s Reddit AMA

Yesterday night (13th July), Mac DeMarco took part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, ahead of the release of his ‘Another One’ LP on Captured Tracks.

Taking to the Indieheads forum, Mac answered questions about everything from his most embarrassing experiences, to his mum and shoegaze. Answers were brief, but we learned a few more things about this Canadian character.

Here’s what we discovered:

- His first album: Limp Bizkit’s ‘Insignificant Other’. It was a Christmas present.

- He wants to work with Connan Mockasin - Not as a collaboration, “just a guitar lesson,” he jokes.

- He’s been thinking about quitting smoking.

- Lots of people have been coming to his house, since he posted his address online. “Just nice kids, they brought donuts yesterday,” he says.

- He doesn’t mind if people download ‘Another One’ for free - “Was gonna happen eventually, glad its [sic] out there.”

- He once went to an “NFL house party” with Parquet Courts, after they played Coachella.

- He’s not slowing down anytime soon - one user (MotownMoproblems) asked if he was planning on “chilling the fuck out?” Not only is ‘Another One’ coming out - he also released an instrumental LP last week. Mac’s response: “Not gonna be chillin for a while, but yeah eventually.”
