Wilco share ‘Blasting Fonda’ from new (old) box set

The band issue two compilations next month.

Wilco release a couple of box sets of previously unreleased, rare, and otherwise ‘not on the regular album’ tracks next month, called - rather imaginatively - ‘Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994-2014’ and ‘What’s Your 20?: Essential Tracks’. Both are out on 1st December via Rhino/Nonesuch.

One of the songs featured on the four-CD compilation has been shared online, ‘Blasting Fonda’. The song originally appeared on the soundtrack for movie ‘Feeling Minnesota’, (released in 1996, a massive 16% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), and is remembered by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy in the liner notes as “probably the first time it was just [mulit-instrumentalist] Jay [Bennett] and me in the studio – which ended up happening a lot – just basically kind of seeing if we could make some sort of song happen with just the two of us”. If you’re a fan of liner notes, then ‘Alpha Mike Foxtrot’ has 64 (SIXTY-FOUR) pages of them.

Wilco have US live dates planned this December.

DECEMBER
3 Milwaukee, WI Riverside Theatre
5 Chicago, IL Riviera Theatre
6 Chicago, IL Riviera Theatre
