Wilco share news of a new album, ‘Cousin’
A collaboration with Cate Le Bon, the band’s latest project will land at the end of September.
Wilco have today announced the upcoming release of their new album, ‘Cousin’, which will arrive on 29th September via dBpm Records. Produced by Cate Le Bon - whose influence can be seen in the record’s saxophone, Japanese guitars, and New Wave-style drum machine - it marks a boundary-pushing step forward for the band.
“The amazing thing about Wilco is they can be anything”, says Cate. “They’re so mercurial, and there’s this thread of authenticity that flows through everything they do, whatever the genre, whatever the feel of the record. There aren’t many bands who are able to, this deep into a successful career, successfully change things up.”
The band have also shared the album’s lead single, ‘Evicted’, which explores the guilt and pain of having hurt someone you care about. Of the track, frontman Jeff Tweedy comments: “I guess I was trying to write from the point of view of someone struggling to make an argument for themself in the face of overwhelming evidence that they deserve to be locked out of someone’s heart. Self-inflicted wounds still hurt and in my experience they’re almost impossible to fully recover from.”
