XL Recordings release Gil Scott-Heron album, ‘Nothing New’
A digital version of the album is available following the RSD14 release.
XL Recordings have released Gil Scott-Heron album ‘Nothing New’ digitally for the first time, to commemorate what would have been the late poet-musician’s 66th birthday yesterday (1st April).
Previewed by ‘Pieces Of A Man’, ’Nothing New’ was released last year as a limited edition Record Store Day vinyl. The catalogue of Heron’s work was recorded in New York with Richard Russell between 2005-2009, prior to the release of Heron’s 2010 album ‘I’m New Here’.
A feature documentary titled, ‘Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?’, directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, has been released alongside the album via iTunes. The film, “is a portrait seen through the eyes of those who loved Gil, his friends, his family, and the musicians he played with.” A 10 minute trailer is available to watch over Gil Scott-Heron’s website, here.
Listen to ‘Pieces Of A Man’ and read the tracklist below. ‘Nothing New’ is available now. For more information, head to the new Gil Scott-Heron website here.
