Yak release new single ‘All I Need Is Some Sunshine In My Life’ on Yala! Records
It’s their first release for the Maccabees-affiliated label.

Yak are back! The trio have shared new single ‘All I Need Is Some Sunshine In My Life’, their first release on the Maccabees-affiliated Yala! Records.
The song was premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on Radio 1 last night (13th September), and is an adaptation of The Dixie Nightingales’ gospel classic of the same name.
“A loved one departed and on the way out sent me this song, so we ended up recording a delirious version in the blistering heat of Perth,” Yak frontman Oli Burslem explains.
“I love the original Dixie Nightingales’ version, it reminds me of songs like Wendy Rene’s ‘After Laughter’, which I imagined was recorded in the same studio with maybe even the same people playing.”
Yala! label boss and former Maccabees frontman Felix White expands: “I first saw Yak when they supported us in New York,” he says. “Nobody could take their eyes off them, they were an intimidating band to follow, and I knew I loved them immediately.
“We are very proud to be putting out this stand alone single on YALA!, a beautiful and vital piece of music by one of the country’s most important rising bands.”
