Yard Act offer up new single ‘New Beginnings’
Our current cover stars have shared a second taste of their forthcoming third LP, ‘You’re Gonna Need A Little Music’.

Current DIY cover stars Yard Act have offered up another preview of their forthcoming third LP, ‘You’re Gonna Need A Little Music’.
The Leeds quartet have followed up by the album’s lead single ‘Redeemer’ - which landed last month alongside the album’s announcement - with the sunny, Britpop-flecked ‘New Beginnings’. “‘New Beginnings’ is a bit of light to counteract the dark we led with [‘Redeemer’],” the band’s vocalist James Smith has said. “Sometimes we’ve already shed our old skin without even realising it’s happening. Celebrate the new, because you can’t go back.”
The band’s forthcoming album will follow on from their 2024 effort ‘Where’s My Utopia?’ when lands next month, on 13th July via Island Records. Written during a uninterrupted five month stint the band had off the road, the record was then recorded in both Leeds and Los Angeles with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Nine Inch Nails, Beck, St Vincent). To mark the album’s release, the band have also now announced plans for a six-date UK in-store / out-store tour this July, before they head out on the road on a big ol’ headline run later this year.
