Bad Breeding - Exiled

A record that barely takes its foot off the gas pedal.

Bad Breeding - Exiled

Stevenage shredders Bad Breeding take influence from the current state of British politics on their third album. In their words, we’re “a nation circling the drain while forever eyeing the plughole.” As such, ‘Exiled’ tears the listener a new one from the start. The suspense-building kick drum thumps of seven-minute finale ‘Tortured Reality’ preface hazy, Sonic Youth-like explorations of white noise and distortion. It’s one of only two songs longer than two-and-a-half-minutes and it provides a decent respite on a record that barely takes its foot off the gas pedal. This onslaught would make even the most hardcore listener flinch. Bring earplugs.
