The masters of a soft-focus experimentalism, ‘Die Slow’ marks Health’s most accessible offering to date – on a par with ‘Glitter Pills’. This track might well be the noise that accompanied the ending to Raiders of the Lost Ark; just such a face-melting, lung grappling feel emanates from the speakers.
Quaking with the weight of an interrupting industrial clang, the lyrics are suitably submerged in their hauntingly airy role, making translation nigh on impossible. From this the guitars spin away and sear a trail as they leave, all the while the drums march in their primeval way. But it’s not about understanding with Health, it’s all about accepting.
Much like the self-titled debut, this is one we would recommend you stick on LOUD.
