Ablebody get starry-eyed with ‘Gaucho’
70s-nodding pop trip is an exciting introduction to the LA duo.

Without being too presumptuous, LA-based duo Ablebody are the kind of band that might own a time machine without telling anyone. It’s top secret, obviously. But how else do you explain their new track, ‘Gaucho’? The song cruises through previous eras without belonging to one specific decade. Nodding to the 70s is one thing, but they also merge showy guitar solos that would traditionally belong in the 80s, and mournful vocals Morrissey mastered way back.
Somehow, this timeless cocktail doesn’t come off as needlessly nostalgic. In fact, Ablebody’s divine mix feels positively refreshing. ‘Gaucho’, taken from a debut album out in October, finds the duo plugging their brains into a disused jukebox of celebrated songs and giving it a new lease of life.
Debut LP ‘Adult Contemporaries’ is released on 14th October via Lolipop Records.
