Demob Happy get gruesome on new ‘Young & Numb’ video
Brighton fiends turn a supermarket trip into a blood and guts-fest.
If Demob Happy invite you into a cottage for a “quiet” relaxed countryside weekend, you might as well be shaking hands with the grim reaper.
As the Brighton band’s story goes, they tend to find somewhere remote, hit record and come up with the brutal sound that’s fast cementing them as one of the UK’s most exciting new bands.
We’re premiering their ‘Young & Numb’ video, which takes the grunge-nodding grit of their single and adds 100% more blood and guts.
As the band explain, here’s how it came about: “We were out in this spooky cottage writing hits and it gave us all culty vibes, so it was kind of a last minute decision to make it bloody. We didn’t have to pretend much considering we were stranded in nowheresville, and that’s how every horror film starts. I’m glad to be out of there now, It got a bit cabin feverish and the video set the tone in our brains kinda weird. The songs are dark because of that. The woman who owned the cottage came to visit when Mat was getting chain-sawed and she nearly died herself. She thought we got mixed up in some drug deal gone bad, but It was just innocent maiming that’s all. I don’t know if the video fits with what the songs about, maybe the killer is our comeuppance and we’re martyrs, or maybe it’s just fucking funny.”
