Kendrick Lamar names Earl Sweatshirt as his favourite rapper

Last night Kendrick Lamar held a Twitter Q&A with fans, answering questions about his new album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’. He promised a world tour “soon enuff,” and named Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt as his favourite rapper in the game right now. He also praised Lil Wayne, calling him one of the most influential artists of his generation, “and still hungry.”

It’s a rarity for Kendrick Lamar, who usually keeps a low profile on social media. The Q&A follows Lamar’s interview with Flying Lotus, on the producer’s Radio 1 Residency.

Kendrick Lamar also said that ‘For Free’ is his favourite song on the record, and explained the influences behind ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’s title. He cited Iceberg Slim, an American pimp who went on to become a hugely influential author and an important figure of African-American literature.
