A bizarre Bastille, Guy Fieri-related covers album just broke the internet

A day like #piggate comes along. It’s a laugh. Everyone’s having a great time, fully aware that the Prime Minister of Great Britain probably did stick his todger in a pig. Fine. That’s happened, let’s carry on having a laugh about that.

But then this comes along. An album devoted to Bastille by an artist called Bastilleus. It has telly chef Guy Fieri - half man, half greasy machine - on the cover. It contains a song called ‘Kidnap Dan Smith’. On paper, it’s an absolute revelation, a bizarre Bandcamp find to rival the very best.

That’s before you hit play. Out step songs of such finite craft and bold combination that it’s beyond #piggate - it’s bigger than that. These songs combine M83 with Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star’. Then Bastille’s ‘Pompeii’ steps in. Then another sample of ‘All Star’. It’s overwhelming. It’s art.

Shortly after this broke, Bastille wasted no time in claiming the album as their own. “Oh bolocks our entire new album has leaked online,” they said. Cue meltdown from poor fans waiting for new music.
